Teach & Tell in IDDBA's Show & Sell

For Immediate Release

Madison , WI, March 7, 2008— The International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association™ (IDDBA) is proud to present the fabulous Show & Sell Center Retail Food Merchandising Pavilion, featuring innovative and actionable concepts, at the association's 44th annual seminar and expo, Dairy-Deli-Bake 2008. The show will be held June 1-3 in New Orleans, LA. The theme for this year's show is "Super Mardi Gras."

SHOW & SELL is half of the equation. The other half is TEACH & TELL. This year, our world class merchandisers are focusing on teaching you how to deliver the concepts by telling you how they were conceived, designed, and executed. Stop by the Show & Sell for a little Teach & Tell.

Bakery Merchandising Ideas
This year, the IDDBA's Retail Merchandising Teams are delivering on a number of levels. Not only are they showcasing great products and taste treats, but they're serving up educational ideas, new concepts, and how-to deliverables to excite your staff and satisfy your customers. The bakery challenge is how to deliver great taste to go along with the sensory promises.

Come to New Orleans and learn about party destinations that offer value-added, easy-to-execute sweet and savory products. Learn how to put a "spell" on customers with our VooDoo Bread Bar featuring stuffed baguettes, open-faced "witches," and brown bag treats. See how breakfast can "Feed the Crave" with great coffees and sweet temptations. You won't jump ship when you walk the plank of "Pie-rate's Pleasures," filled with seasonal and theme pies. Show customers how to indulge in a French Kiss confection of high-end pastries. And, of course, there'll be a whole "Lotta Chocolatta" to dip, dunk, and dive into.

Our giant cake island features mini-cakes, seasonal campaigns for Life's Sellabrations, a Party Gras with fabulous King Cakes, and a "cup" cake promotion that builds on last year's best-selling build-your-own Cupcake Bar!

Cheese Merchandising Ideas
From Cowlifornia to Wiscowsin to Moo York City, cheese leads the parade when it comes to parties, cooking, snacking, and entertaining. Cheese lovers (and sellers) will delight in the showcase settings for lifestyle cheeses, party platters, merchandising, meals, and snackables. Take a great cheese and add some attention-getting promotional items, props, or signage and you've taken the first step to gaining customer interest. We'll show you how to hone your own cheese-cutting and merchandising skills (with take-home cutting guides).

Every cheesemonger – amateur or professional – needs a box of tricks and tools to sell cheese. We'll show you "toolboxes" filled with ideas and tools to create your own displays. You'll learn how to showcase grand themes, cross-merchandise specialty items, and "sign" to sell. A "Try & Buy" Pairing and Sampling Case uses everyday items to draw in the customer and create eating experiences that they can share with friends and family. Using unusual containers, unexpected displays, and undeniably great products sets the stage for an over-the-top merchandising display and unbelievable sales!

Deli Merchandising Ideas
When it comes to sandwiches, customers love made-to-order. It says fresh. It also says they'll have to wait for it. We think it's "Worth the Weight/Wait" because you can pick your protein, your cheese, your bread and the amount (weight). It's that value-added element that lets the customer make the choice that really puts the "service" in a service department. Pizza is another perennial favorite that keeps reinventing itself and bringing in the dough. We've created a Destination Pizza center that will win raves and customers.

As customers take charge of their health, they're looking to the supermarket for health and wellness foods that provide better nutrition, improved health, and longevity. It's not a fad, it's a trend that's here to stay. Our Health & Wellness display will show you how to leverage healthful foods to grab attention and sales. Eatertainment combines great food with great entertaining. Whether it's a meal, a snack, or a party, platters combine the best of all departments and can satisfy all taste preferences. From hot stuff to hand-held, from tailgate to top hat, the deli delivers.

Meal Merchandising Ideas
Call it "center of plate" or "share of stomach" or "meal solution," it all means the same thing – DINNER! And dinner can be lunch, supper, or even breakfast – it goes by many names and satisfies many desires. The category includes home-cooked, comfort food, ethnic meals, and take-out. But it's all good eats. From single-serve to family-serve to grab-and-go, the Meals Team shows you how to create attention-getting, mouth-watering, gotta-have-it meals.

One of our unique displays will feature Mix and Match Merchandising. You'll learn how to take the same foods and merchandise, sign, and sell it in three different formats (Every Day Low Pricing, Value-Added, and Upscale Dining). From low-price/high-volume to gourmet, we'll show you how. In keeping with the history of New Orleans, we'll show you foods from the Garden District, Blue Bayou, Cajun, and Zydeco. From tapas to appetizers, from soul to Creole, from red beans and rice to hotter-than-spice, we'll tempt your taste buds like never before.

Free Photo CD
If you stop by the Show & Sell Center, you can sign up for a FREE photo CD that highlights the exciting displays and merchandising ideas. It's FREE, but you have to sign up in person.
