Best Practices for Controlling Listeria

Approximately 1,600 individuals sickened annually with Listeriosis, resulting in 260 deaths.

Safe Food Matters! Focus on Listeria

In 2015, IDDBA embarked on a food safety initiative—Safe Food Matters!—to build industry awareness about food safety best practices and the food-borne illness listeriosis.

Focus on Listeria

Listeria monocytogenes is a deadly serious concern in retail food departments that can have devastating consequences on customers' health and store operations. We will focus on best practices for decreasing the potential for Listeria growth or cross-contamination.

For over 27 years, IDDBA has been a leader in providing quality food safety information to its members, usually free of charge.

Safe Food Matters! can benefit your business RIGHT now. Take action!

Retailers can help decrease the risk of illness by controlling Listeria monocytogenes contamination in the deli. Education and training play a big part. With the prevalence of prepared foods at retail and the number of consumers who depend on their supermarkets to provide safe meals, it's more critical than ever that associates practice good food safety skills every day. Make practicing good food safety a part of your corporate culture. Make safe food a distinct expectation.
