National Vice President of Deli/Food Service

Gary DeLeon is the National VP, Deli Food Service at Albertson Companies. In this position he is responsible for developing and managing national category strategies for Deli Food Service and ReadyMeals. Gary and his team work closely with division merchants, Own Brands, replenishment, and other functional partners to drive sales growth through strategic planning, innovative solutions, and optimization of diverse product and food formats.
 
Most recently, Gary served as Senior Director of ReadyMeals across Fresh Merchandising, where he was instrumental in its development and in driving double-digit sales increases, fostering repeat purchases and customer loyalty. Before that, he served as Director of ReadyMeals and Deli Director of Merchandising for the East divisions. Gary’s Albertsons career began in 2017, as the Corporate Chef.
 
His retail career started with H-E-B Grocery Company as a Deli lead as he attended culinary school in Austin Texas. His part time job turned into 12 years with H-E-B in numerous roles supporting Deli/Food Service with experience in department management, store operations, research and product development, procurement, and merchandising.

Gary has developed strong working relationships throughout the industry, suppliers, manufactures and organizational leaders on multiple levels. His positive attitude, adaptability, and willingness to accept any challenge are instrumental in delivering strategic initiatives and first to market innovation.

On a personal note, Gary is an avid traveler and history buff who enjoys immersing himself into diverse cultures from around the world. Gary and his wife, Laura, are passionate about food, wine, world travel, and are avid Formula 1 fans. Their greatest joy comes from spending quality time with their extended families and friends.
