While we all know the best recruiting method is to not lose employees in the first place, creating a work environment that attracts and keeps good employees is absolutely essential now, more than ever. With bakery and deli turnover hitting 80% to 90% in many stores, the financial costs, stress on existing employees, and customer loyalty losses are an enormous concern.

Harold Lloyd will highlight a dozen effective and practical employee retention techniques that will help stem the loss of employees to competitors and other industries. An easy retention technique, which only costs a bit of time, is for store management to ceremoniously hand deliver first paychecks to new employees. Lloyd will share many more retention techniques you can implement in your departments.

Lloyd has been inspiring IDDBA attendees for more than two decades. He will soon be releasing his third book, Employee Retention Rules! He is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and holds an MBA with honors from the University of Chicago.
