Show and Sell

Our interactive marketplace came to life through displays and retail concepts that highlighted trends in this merchandising idea haven. Using real products and food from our sponsors, our teams of industry volunteers produced innovative examples of ways to engage and appeal to your customers. Live demonstrations and presentations in the Show and Sell Workshop offered attendees insight into bettering their businesses. Attendees walked away energized with inspiration and ideas they could implement with concepts including:

2018 Show and Sell Recap

Bakery: Suggestions to create excitement through customization and experience in our coffee bar that featured Kombucha and nitro brew; donut samples and innovative flavors and toppings; new twists on an old favorite in our pretzel bar; and ideas on how any store could enhance its fresh bread program.

Cake: Approaches for energizing your store’s cake program with unique flavor and icing combinations; creative ideas for merchandising small desserts; a visual evolution of how sculpted cakes are created; dessert kit and flight concepts; easily executable cake textures and colors that create a statement; unique and alternative wedding options; and this year’s Cakescape, a New Orleans 300th Anniversary cake, was built from the elements of gum paste flowers and messages on fondant from attendees at our learning stations.

Cheese: Attendees learned how to advance their stores’ cheese program through pairing ideas; a focus on convenience, which included a grab-and-go cheese selection; enhancement ideas for merchandising cheese and fermented foods; ideas for incorporating cheese in made-to-order and prepared food options; upselling ideas, such as cut-to-order loaves and wheels; and snacking options for all dayparts.

Culinary Solutions: Ideas for boosting your prepared food offerings with customizable meal kit options, bowl concepts, internationally-inspired hand-crafted sandwiches that elevated the usual deli offering, Spanish tapas, and upscale pizza that can help drive sales of high end ingredients.
